Copper Harbor trip

i thought this picture turned out pretty good. this is amy and me up over a lookout by copper harbor...the town is behind amy's right shoulder and what you see is all there is!

believe it or not...this is the marker for record snowfalls. i took this picture for my friend sunny so she could see how much snow the area gets. i wasn't joking when i said the largest amount of snow was over 22 feet!!

i just liked the look of the stone bridge over the water.

i tried clicking my heels three times, but a canoe or kayak did not appear before my eyes. so, i had to settle for looking at the lake and not playing on it.

this is a photo of an old fort that was in copper harbor. a sign had stated how isolation was more of a danger than the elements. after seeing how rural the area was...and how much snow it gets, i totally believe it.

aren't the trees beautiful?! i just loved looking at the countryside. this was the highest elevation in the area. lake superior was to my right...i don't know what lake this was...doesn't matter.

this is the school house for the little town of copper harbor. i think it has grades k-8th. the kids go to a different town for senior high. i couldn't imagine what it'd be like to be in a school this small!!

i missed the little country lanes cutting through the countryside. at least 30-45 minutes of driving was through woods like this....it was sooo pretty.

Copper Harbor trip

well...i've been on medication now for two weeks for the hypothyroidism. personally, i don't feel much of a difference...the dosage is so low. i'll have to go to the doctor several times to try and find the correct dosage for me. i still have my bouts with fatigue but at least the dizziness is gone. i got a kick off of the doctor saying that she's curious to see "what kind of woman is going to come out of all this!" because my level is soooooooooo off.

beyond school and work, not much is happening that i care to share for all that read this. there have been changes, however a personal email to me will have to suffice if you want to know the scoop. anywho, i'm looking forward to the holidays in a way i haven't felt in years. before taiwan, i lost that holiday spark...i think mostly because of my mother being ill. being in taiwan and away from the preparation and celebrations of american holidays...is probably why i'm excited. i can't wait to decorate a tree!!

i miss taiwan a lot. i knew this would happen....i'm itchin' to travel again. i'm even thinking about heading out to taiwan for the summer and hopefully do some private tutoring for a little bit. i miss my friends, the temples, food, tea, the markets and much more. i don't miss the stinky tofu, sudden stops by people answering cell phones, being illiterate, earthquakes, godzilla-sized cockroaches...and i could go on.

this weekend amy, pam and i are heading to minneapolis for a seminar. they'll play while i'm working, but i'll have time to play too. of course, i'll put pictures on if i take any good ones. please keep in touch everyone!!
